Timber Staircase Staining & Clear Coating, Box Hill

Sky Painting & Decorating completed this timber staircase staining and clear coating project in Box Hill, Sydney. The work transformed pale, unfinished timber into a deep, dark finish across the stair treads, lower landing and handrails, complementing the glass balustrades and light surrounding walls. Preparation included sanding the timber and protecting adjacent surfaces. The before photographs show the bare timber, masking around the glass and protective sheeting beside the stairs. Feast Watson stain was used to develop the dark timber colour, followed by Feast Watson clear coat. The finished photographs show the visible wood grain, defined tread edges and reflective surface finish. The staircase combines a broad lower landing with an open-riser upper flight, making the timber visible from several angles. Consistent colour across the treads, landing and handrails brings these architectural elements together. Use the before-and-after slider to compare the unfinished and coated staircase from a similar front-facing viewpoint, then explore the gallery for preparation photos and close-up finish details.
